1.2. Promoters of the Project The promoters of the project are D C Katongo and Mwaba Katongo. Mr D C Katongo is a Lawyer and has been active in the profession for three decades and is a Senior Partner of Jaques and Partners and owns Dicka Investments Limited a property company owning various properties and a Farm in Chisamba and also Lindex Enterprises Limited and an Ice Plant and 10 semi-detached block of Flats in Lusaka. Mwaba Katongo is an Economics’ graduate of the University of Hartford in America and currently working with the Group of Companies and Family Companies here in Zambia and assisting in the management and running of the Farm in Chisamba and other Family Companies.
1.3. Situation of the Farm and size The size of the Farm is 1700 hectares and equivalent in 4250 acres. The Farm is situated just after crossing the Chambeshi River on the pontoon as one proceeds from Kasama to Chinsali on the Chinsali Road. The Farm was acquired in 1982 and was used for crop production and cattle ranching; 700 acres of the Farm was cleared but due to non-use for the past 10 years, the cleared portion is now overgrown with grass and bush.
1.4. The main objectives of our going into the project of Game Ranching are to:
- to add beauty and value to the area more so that all game in the area has run away or has been killed. - to teach the local population on the values of keeping and breeding wild game not only as a source of income but also as a source of protein and food in a managed manner - to let people know the values and importance of preserving and keeping fauna and living with it for the mutual benefit of man and the fauna itself for sustainable development. - be a regular source of food and protein by the surrounding population more so during the period of cropping of the fauna. - to be a source of supply of wild game meat to butcheries and in Kasama, Mpika and Chinsali for sale to the public, in addition, it is our intention to establish a burchery outlet on the Farm once the project has mature. - Our view is that, with the establishment of the Game Ranch, this will go a long way towards reducing the incidence of poaching as wild meat would be readily available to consumers or lovers or wild game in the area.
1.5. Tourism Resort and Safari Company Part of the Farm has a picturesque frontage of large expense of water of the river. The large water basin bordering the Farm is ideal for fishing and boating by tourist or safari lovers. It is our intention to construct or build few chalets on the raised part of the Farm acing the river and be used as transit safari camps for holiday makers and for picnics for people in Kasama, Mpika and Chinsali. It is significant to mention here that when the Farm was operational, a lot of expatriates working in Kasama used to come to the farm for picnics over the weekends. We feel that with wild game around, the place is bound to be popular with not only tourist but also picnic lovers who will be required to pay fees or charges for game watching or viewing and fishing tiger fish and other species of fishes plus surfing more so that there is a rapid called ‘’Safwa Rapids’’. In addition, part of the Farm can be used as Camp Site.

The Farm has potential for development in all areas of agricultural activities.

Mwanamwenge Farms Ltd This is a 5000 acre Farm in the northern province along Mpika/Kasama Road about 700 km from Lusaka and 72 km from the provincial capital of Northern province Kasama on the same Road. The Road is tarmarked and access to the farm from the tarred road is 7km dirty road crossing a perennial big river (Chambeshi). The farm is bounded on three sides by the Chambeshi River and hence water is in plentiful supply. The open side is fenced. There are two houses on the farm. The farm is ideal for such activities as Cotton, Tobacco, Sugarcane, Coffee growing and Ranching and since it has a raised picturesque view it is also ideal for game Ranching and establishment of a tourism enterprise such as construction of lodges.
Proposed Business Ventures 1. On the 5 acre plot we are looking for a financier or an investor to finance or jointly develop a Hotel or Motel or the plot. Alternatively, to construct up to say 200 double storey Executive Flats. 2.
