You might have thought about it in the past but been put off it by the high price – the good news? Prices have fallen, popularity has risen, and there are now some seriously amazing itineraries out there, which allow you to see several places all within the space of one holiday.
What could be better?
Another major plus point about cruise holidays is that many are all inclusive; do check this out with your particular cruise company, but if this is the case, that means all your meals on-board are included, and that cuts costs and budgeting needs. A lot of the time you can also purchase a drinks package to go along with your meals, and you can choose between soft drinks or alcohol packages too. Sea days are certainly not boring either, thanks to the huge number of attractions and entertainment on board – cruise ships are basically floating holiday resorts, and you will be glad of a few days to enjoy them after your action packed land days!
So, where you can you cruise? Anywhere you like basically, as there is a huge choice available nowadays. The top cruise destinations are generally the Caribbean, the Far East, the Norwegian Fjords, and the Mediterranean.
During the summer months between May and September, Mediterranean cruises are extremely popular, and it’s no wonder when you think about the huge number of countries you can see all within the space of a week or 10 days – Greece, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, the Canary Islands, Malta, the list goes on. If you want to take your cruise up a glamour notch, how about the Caribbean? You can do a cruise and stay break by spending a few days in Florida, perhaps in Orlando and enjoy the theme parks, or Miami for the shopping and nightlife, before floating off to explore some of the idyllic islands on offer.
Winter time is also a prime time for cruises, as the Norwegian Fjords are known for their icy beauty. If you want to truly do something once in a lifetime how about an Antarctica cruise? This will seriously test your sea legs, but it will be something you will never forget. Heading over the infamous Drake Passage on a rough day is something to behold, that’s for sure!
Shop around for your cruise holiday of choice, and give some serious thought to the itinerary you pick; you could use this holiday as a try before you buy kind of deal – if you have always wanted to go to a region, but you haven’t been sure which actual destination to visit, you could tour the area on a cruise and see where you might like to head back to on a land-based break.
Cruises are seriously in fashion right now!
